UI/UX Designer + Front End Dev

I have 13 years of design experience with visual and graphic design with a BA in a design related field. Since march 2018, I have been designing and developing websites to secure valuable industry experience. A proponent of Accessibility and Design Systems, I have been expanding my experience by working on projects that integrate UX Research, User Testing, as well as iterative development. I look forward to collaborating with a brilliant team to make stunning user-centric solutions.

Webpage Re-Design

I led the re-design efforts for the SparkFun Support site. I conducted UX research, rapidly developed prototypes for stakeholders, and when the changes were agreed upon, developed the implementation of changes.

Design/Develop from Scratch

I designed, prototyped, consulted with the customer, and developed a brochure website.

Ongoing Notifications

I wrote out the high level rules for how our new platform would deal with alerts that revolved around ongoing jobs. I did iterative user testing to make the notifications as intuitive as possible.

Design System

I created the entire typography component, with emphasis on it being accessible, for the design library and implemented training and roll out of new component library standards and practices. I also expanded the library contents by 25%.

Creating Tax Form

Starting with a tax form for large business, I create an understandable sheet in which our customers can view what information was sent to the government all while keeping with the current design style they were using to help the development team.

Mockup for New Function

Louisiana wanted our compliance system to be able to work with products with a THC% alongside their ABV% products. I was asked to create a CBD styled workflow based on the preexisting alcohol workflow. I had to take the parts provided and reconstruct an entirely new process with widely different legal regulations.

Compliance Work Flow

I prototyped a workflow based on a new tax requirement that was not disruptive because these customers fill out hundreds of forms a day. it needed to be informative, minimal effort, and understandable.

Grapgic Design Composite

I was asked by a company to help them make a composite image to showcase to a customer how the product would look in their lobby. I was given dimensions of the screen and how far it needed to be from the floor to comply with accessibility laws.

Art Work

I have been working in visual design for over 10 years. I have created book covers, clothing designs for a club level sport, and other artistic compositions.

Hi, I'm Alexandra, but you can call me Lex.

Picture of me

I am a jack-of-all-trades designer with a long and full artistic history between pen and paper, interior design, and performing arts. Tri-lingual in English, German, and American Sign Language, I yearn to travel and expand my empathy by immersing myself in cultures vastly different from my own. I love to learn new crafts and expand my abilities; my current projects are web accessibility, front end development, embroidery, and circus arts.

I have two and a half degrees from the University of Northern Colorado in Theater Studies, German, and a minor in Dance. As a Colorado native, I only get a few chances to speak my target languages, but I have always been active in the local German community since I was German club president in College.

As a kid I was a part of the gifted program at my school where we were periodically taken out of class and given puzzles and problems to mentally wrestle over. Since then I've had a passion for riddles and problem solving that led me to taking a Harvard class and coding my own rudimentary calculator in C. After looking for many ways to have an artistic career that didn't end up with me as a waitress between gigs, I finally found that my love of problem solving fit quite well into the niche of UI/UX designer.
